A picture book encouraging little girls to dream big dreams
When my niece was 4 years old, she asked if she could be both a doctor and a mommy when she grows up, worried that she could only choose one path for her future. Unable to find any age-appropriate books showing working moms, I wrote one for her instead.
When Mommies Go to Work shows girls they can follow their passions–whether that’s flying or farming, teaching or serving–and they can raise families too.
This rhyming, softcover picture book is geared for children up to about 6 years old. It is written with girls and moms as central characters, but kids of any gender identity can draw inspiration from the story. The beautiful watercolor illustrations from artist Alex Langenstein feature characters representing a diversity of races, abilities, and family structures.
